Thomson Reuters appoints David Becker as MD in Asia
30 Nov 2011
Thomson Reuters today said it had appointed David Becker as managing director, Asia, in a newly created role, reporting directly to New York-based Christopher J Perry, president, global sales and marketing.
This appointment forms part of a strategic transformation at Thomson Reuters to accelerate the development and growth of the company's financial services business across its key markets in Asia.
"Asia is the fastest growing region for Thomson Reuters' $5.7 billion Financial Professionals and Marketplaces business that delivers trading screens, proprietary content, data and news tailored for financial professionals and traders," the company said in an appointments announcement.
Becker will focus on delivering Thomson Reuters Eikon, the company's next-generation platform used to deliver all desktop and mobile offerings to professional traders. Becker's team of sales professionals will drive customer growth and provide greater responsibility for account management to the firm's long-standing track record of success in the region.
Becker has been with Thomson Reuters since 2003, joining as head of Sales & Trading, Asia, and brings more than 20 years' experience in the Asian media and financial markets.
Prior to joining Thomson Reuters, Becker was CEO of Inlumen (Newsalert.com) Asia Pacific, and before that managing director (Asia Pacific) at IDEA Global. He was also part of the management team that set up Telerate (later became known as Dow Jones Markets) in Asia, where he was general manager, North Asia and ASEAN.
