Top management guru, Dr CK Prahalad, passes away

Chennai: Dr CK Prahalad, renowned management thinker and a distinguished professor at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, passed away on Saturday morning in San Diego, US after a brief illness. He was 68.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs Gayathri Prahalad, son, Murali Prahalad, daughter, Dheepa Prahalad and grand children.
Amongst many notable publications, Dr Prahalad was also author of the seminal ''The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid: Eradicating Poverty through Profits.''
For long Dr Prahalad remained amongst the top ten business management thinkers of the world. His focus on good corporate governance and ethical standards was well known.
Coimbatore Krishnarao Prahalad, to give him his full name was born in the southern manufacturing city of Coimbatore, from which he took his first name, on 8 August 1941. He went on to study physics at Madras University. He continued his education in the US going on to collect his doctorate from Harvard.
Prof Prahalad has advised the top management of many of the world's foremost companies and served on the board of NCR Corporation, Hindustan Lever. TVS Capital Funds and The World Resources Institute.
