Vijai Sharma appointed central information commissioner, K V Chowdary is new CVC

The government today announced the appointment of Vijai Sharma as the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) and K.V. Chowdary as the Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC).
Vijai Sharma, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS official of the 1974 batch, has been information commissioner in the Central Information Commission, New Delhi
Sudhir Bhargava, an IAS official of the 1979 batch, is a retired secretary of the ministry of social justice and empowerment, has been appointed as the information commissioner in the Central Information Commission.
Both the appointments have been made for a term of five years from the date(s) on which they enter upon their office(s) or till they attain the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, a government release said.
KV Chowdary, a retired Indian Revenue Service (IRS) official of the 1978 batch, and retired chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has been appointed as the Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC).
TM Bhasin, chairman and managing director of Indian Bank, has been appointed as the Vigilance Commissioner in the CVC.
Both the appointments have been made for a term of four years from the date(s) on which they enter upon their office(s) or till they attain the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, the release added.
