Dhirubhai Ambani suffers stroke, in hospital

Reliance Industries managing director Anil Ambani, in a statement, said his father had suffered a brain stroke on Monday night. "He is making steady progress and his health is being monitored by an expert team. We all are praying for his speedy recovery, and are moved by the number of people who came to see us. I urge them to join him in praying for his speedy recovery."
The news of Ambani's ailment had its repercussions on the markets with Reliance Industries Ltd stocks falling 2.01 per cent at Rs 277.70 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Those who visited Dhirubhai, 69, in the hospital included: Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar, matinee idol Amitabh Bachchan, Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray, Samajwadi Party leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh, Sahara India chief Subroto Roy and Raymond group CMD Gautam Singhania.
