Masahiro Yamamura appointed chairman, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST), today announced that Masahiro Yamamura has been appointed chairman of the board of directors, ssucceeding Hiroaki Nakanishi, who is now president of Hitachi, Ltd.
Yamamura will retire from his current executive role at Hitachi GST and return to Hitachi, Ltd.
Since Yamamura joined Hitachi, Ltd. in 1974, he has held a number of senior management roles during his more than 35-year career with Hitachi. He served as chairman and CEO of Renesas Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. before joining Hitachi GST in 2008.
In his new role as chairman, Yamamura will be based at the Hitachi GST headquarters in San Jose, Calif.
