SC turns down Raju’s plea for more time to surrender

Former Satyam chairman Ramalinga Raju will have to surrender before the Central Bureau of Investigation by 10 November following the apex court turning down his plea to extend the time of surrender.
Raju had moved the Supreme Court asking for four weeks to allow him to interact with his lawyers regarding the trial.
Following the Supreme Court canceling his bail, he has been asked along with five others to surrender by 10 November.
Earlier, he had been granted bail in August by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Subsequently, the Supreme Court over-ruled that decision, while also ordering a court handling the Satyam case to complete its trial by 31 July, 2011.
Raju, the founder of Satyam Computers was arrested in January 2009 for perpetrating one of India's biggest corporate scams.
The CBI had opposed Raju's bail on grounds he could influence witnesses.
Earlier, the apex court had cancelled Raju's bail and directed that he surrender by 10 November.
