A K Hazarika given additional charge of CMD and director (exploration) of ONGC

A K Hazarika, who is responsible for the onshore operations of Oil and Natural Corporation of India (ONGC), has been entrusted with additional charge of chairman and managing director and director (exploration) following the retirement of OMGC hairman and managing director R S Sharma.
Hazarika, a mechanical engineering graduate from Assam Engineering College, Guwahati, joined ONGC as a graduate trainee in 1976. His first assignment was as driller (cementing) in Assam. He remained in Assam till 1989 and held various posts with complex responsibilities.
He was later transferred to Chennai where he was in charge of cementing services of all of ONGC.
In 1990, ONGC declared Hazarika `Drilling engineer of the year.'
He was shifted to Mumbai in 1995 where he headed a multi-disciplinary tam (MDT) working on the prestigious Mumbai High redevelopment project (North and South).
He was elevated to the position of head of well services in April 2002 and was made executive director in January 2003.
