Ambev SA, the Brazilian unit of Anheuser-Busch InBev SA yesterday struck a deal to buy craft brewer Colorado for an undisclosed sum.

The latest purchase comes less than six months after Ambev acquired Brazilian craft brewer Wäls in February, and Colombia's largest craft brewer, the Bogotá Beer Company in May.

Founded in 1996 by businessman Marcelo Carneiro Da Rocha, Sao Paulo-based Colorado produces beer with typically Brazilian ingredients such as coffee, molasses, cassava, honey and Brazil nut.

Most of its production is exported to France and the US, and the company is reported to had revenue of about 19 million reais ($6 million) last year.

Ambev, formally Companhia de Bebidas das Américas, is the biggest brewer in Latin America and the fifth in the world.

Formed by the 1999 merger of two breweries, Brahma and Antarctica, Ambev owns popular brands like Brahma, Antarctica, Bohemia and Skol.
