04 Feb 2014

Automobile technology and service provider Bosch Group is further expanding its presence in India, with planned investments of Rs1,350 crore (€160 million) this year for extending its locations in the country.

Bosch, based in Stuttgart, Germany, said its research and technology centre in India will focus on software solutions for internet of things and services, it said, adding that the proposed investments will focus on extending existing manufacturing sites and research and development facilities.

The company announced this at the official opening of the new Bosch research centre in Bangalore.

''India will continue to play a key role for the Bosch Group, even if the next few years will present a few challenges given the recent drop in automotive sales in the country,'' said Peter Tyroller, member of Bosch management board responsible for Asia Pacific.

The Research and Technology Centre (RTC) Bangalore will focus on the development of connected technologies for the internet of things and services. Other focal points will be methods and tools for the efficient design of software-intensive systems, as well as image processing.

The research centre is part of the Bosch Group's second largest development site, employing 10,500 researchers and engineers.

For the first time, Bosch will be showcasing innovations and product highlights on its own at an exposition at the Auto Expo trade show, to be held in Greater Noida near New Delhi.

At this ''Bosch Tech Expo,'' customers from around the world will be able to see innovative technology for themselves, for example during test drives, and to talk in-depth with experts. The exposition will take place near the trade fair site from 5 to 8 February.

The highlights that will be on show include technologies for the connected car, more safety, and driving comfort, and efficient systems that reduce emissions and fuel consumption.
