GlaxoSmithKline Q4-05 up at 61.4%

GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd (GSK) has posted a net profit of Rs23.63 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2004, as compared to Rs14.64 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.

The Total income (net of excise) stood at Rs294.23 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2004, as compared to Rs242.13 crore in the same period last year.

The company posted a net profit of Rs333.09 crore for the year ended December 31, 2004, as compared to Rs172.23 crore for the year ended December 31, 2003.

Total income (net of excise) is Rs1426.78 crore for the year ended December 31, 2004, as against Rs1155.95crore in the last year.

The board has recommended a dividend of Rs13 per equity share (previous year Rs10 per equity share) and a special additional one-time dividend of Rs11 per equity share.

Since the merger of Burroughs Wellcome (India) Ltd (BWIL) with effect from January 01, 2004, the financial results of GSK for the three months and the twelve months ended December 31, 2004, also include the financial results of BWIL and are, therefore, not comparable with the results of the corresponding period last year.
