Infosys enables US company, Avici, meet end-user demand

Avici Systems Inc., a, Massachusetts (US) headquartered, premier global provider of multi-terabit switch/router technology aimed at creating the next generation high performance IP based carrier network, recently signed up with Infosys Technologies to support development of Avici's IPriori™ communication software. Avici's software, a patented technology, with superior scalability, resiliency and port density, is said to enable the first optical "speed-of-light" Internet backbone that will be the ideal choice for worldwide facilities-based carriers and ISPs.
Infosys will provide Avici with not only its Global Delivery Model, a virtual 24 hour workday, but also the scalability and flexibility Avici needs through its time-boxing model, a methodology for delivering rapid functionality to the business in timeframes the company specifies. Infosys and Avici will work together on the integration testing of Avici’s Terabit Switch/Router Switch features.
In selecting Infosys as its partner in the project, Pete Chadwick, vice president of product management with Avici, stated that "high quality processes, a delivery model that reduces time-to-market, coupled with the domain expertise and industry knowledge the company possesses", was clearly the deciding factor. He said that Avici was sure that Infosys would support them in their developmental efforts through their scalable processes and well thought out methodologies.
