Kinetic Blaze blazes ahead in the design contest

Chennai: The Italian-designed Kinetic Blaze has overtaken its Japanese designed motorbikes and gone on to win the 'best design automobile' award for 2006 instituted by auto magazine Top Gear.

The award is given based on the parameters like – design, styling, practicality and suitability to Indian needs. The jury panel comprised of European and Indian designers Lorenzo Ramaciotti, Ercole Spada, Tom Tjaarda, Rajesh Mirajjar, Neeraj Kanwar, CEO, Apollo Tyres and Gautam Sen, editor, Top Gear.

There were six nominations that included motorbikes such as Honda Shine, Suzuki Heat/Zeus, Hero Honda X-treme and Yamaha Gladiator.

Kinetic Blaze is first of the Italiano series from the Pune based Kinetic Motor Company Limited. The 165cc scooter is powered by 4 valve engine giving 12 BHP power. The other features are front telescopic shocks, disk brakes, 12 inch tyres, split seat with large under seat storage space and twin lamps.

Not surprised at Kinetic Blaze winning the award, managing director Sulajja Firodia Motwani said, "It is a very well designed product with tremendous street presence and a plush, comfortable and convenient ride for its user."
