MTNL introduces push mail services for mobile customers

Mumbai: Stat-owned telecom services provider Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited today introduced its "push mail" service with technology support from Bharat Berry Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

''Push email'' provides an always-on capability by which new emails are actively transferred. Preferred over the exisiting ''pull email'' option, ''push email'' are generally handset-dependant as they are provided by the handset manufacturer.

The mobile communication service ''bharat berry'' works with most of the mobile phones and provides a more advanced ''push mail'' with over the air back-up of the user's contacts, tasks, calendar and notes. Moreover, it can also sync with MS Outlook on the user's computer.

In alliance with bharat berry, MTNL is targeting this service for all range of handsets carrying Blackberry, Symbian, Android, Windows Mobile and J2ME which will cover all major mobile handsets.  

"As mobile data connectivity keeps improving and data usage expands, more and more customers are looking for push e-mail solution on their mobile handsets as a productivity tool and as a means to remain connected.''said Kuldip Singh, chairman and managing director, MTNL. 

Th e-push mail service has been competitively priced at just Rs80 per month for a combo pack and Rs50 per month for individual services.
