Tata Motors to provide additional safety features in Nano

Tata Motors today said that it will offer free safety features including additional protection in the exhaust and electrical systems of its Nano cars, while clarifying that this was not tantamount to a recall.

''We would like to state that the Nano is a safe car with a robust design, state-of-the-art components and built with an uncompromising attention to quality in all aspects,'' said the company.

The company said, it had conducted quality checks on the vehicle in May this year and again in September and October.

"Customers can rest assured that there are no generic defects in the Tata Nano," the company said in a release.

"Beginning the 3rd week of November, each owner will be informed about these measures," the company said.

Customers have the option whether to avail of the measures although it will be provided at no cost to them, Tata Motors said. "These actions do not constitute a recall," it added.
