Billionaire industrialist Anil Ambani on Wednesday landed up in Delhi's Tihar jail in order to visit top executives of his Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) who are in custody in connection with the 2G spectrum case.
Ambani had earlier requested that he be allowed to meet them and he was granted permission by the jail officials today.
Two ADAG executives - group managing director Gautam Doshi and senior executive Hari Nair - are currently lodged at Tihar.
The third arrested executive, group senior vice-president Surendra Pipara, was shifted from Tihar to AIIMS after his health deteriorated. Ambani proceeded to meet him as well.
Ambani arrived at the jail complex around 4.50 pm in his silver Honda Accord, tight-lipped and with the darkened windows of his car rolled up. Tihar Jail's law officer Sunil Gupta, told NDTV, "It was a half an hour meeting. They met in jail number 3. Ambani has now gone to meet Pipara in AIIMS."
The three ADAG executives have been accused of setting up Swan Telecom as a front to acquire more spectrum and licenses for Reliance Telecommunications.
