Cairn to ramp up crude production at Mangala fields by 25,000 bpd

Cairn India will ramp up production at the Mangala fields in Rajasthan by another 25,000 barrels of oil per day. Cairn India today got the final nod from the managing committee for increasing production at the Mangala fields.
The Mangala field has been consistently producing oil at 125,000 barrels per day since August 2010. The planned increase in production will take this to 150,000 barrels of oil per day.
Cairn India had set a target of 175,000 barrels of oil a day for the Mangala and Bhagyam fields together.
The Mangala field was the first to commence production in 2009 while the Bhagyam field commenced production on 19 January 2012 and is producing 25,000 barrels of oil/day.
The Bhagyam reservoir and facilities can safely be ramped up to reach the currently approved plateau rate of 40,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd).
The Mangala, Bhagyam and Aishwariya (MBA) fields have gross recoverable oil reserves and resources of approximately one billion barrels. The Rajasthan joint venture will contribute more than 20 per cent of current domestic crude production when they reach the currently approved plateau rate of 175,000 bpd.
