Ford to export EcoSport to US markets
09 Jun 2015
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' programme is likely to get a boost from US automobile major Ford Motor Company as it looked to export India-manufactured SUV EcoSport to the US markets.
The popular SUV would likely be exported back to Ford's home market around October 2017, according to a report in The Economic Times. This would be the first instance of a US car maker exporting India-made automobiles back to its home market.
Ford had already initiated the process of getting approvals to export 90,000 units of EcoSport to US, which was more than the numbers it sold in India.
But India, according to experts India might face competition from Thailand as the latter too was competing to get Ford's SUV orders for the US and Canadian markets.
