Huge visitor exodus hits Facebook: reports
15 Jan 2013
Over 600,000 British Facebook visitors did not visit the site in December, according to new figures, says traffic monitroing firm SocialBakers, adding that the biggest loss from a major territory was from the UK.
Though Facebook has disputed the figures, commentators say confusion over the firm's privacy policies coupled with 'Facebook fatigue' from having too many friends could be the reason for the fall.
According to the figuresFacebook has faced a massive exodus from the UK, with a drop of 2.88 per cent of users in December.
Meanwhile, a major announcement is awaited today from the firm, which is expected to be about a mobile phone. The social network had sent out invitations to US journalists for a special event at its rather secretive Silicon Valley HQ.
The invitations promise to allow invitees a peep into what the firm was building, with online rumours suggesting a phone. However, others say it could involve a new mobile phone software rather than a handset.
According to a Facebook spokeswoman, stories had appeared from time to time about Facebook losing users in some regions.
