Infosys to train Chinese students at its ''global education centre'' at Mysore

Bangalore: Infosys Technologies Limited (NASDAQ: INFY) today announced that it would train 100 students from China at Infosys' 'global education centre' as a part of the MoU between Infosys and the government of China

Commenting on the initiative, an official from China's ministry of education said, "We see science and technology as a key area of collaboration with India and look forward to working with Infosys. We will continuously encourage and support this program in order to strengthen the collaboration between the two entities."

The internship programme will run from September 2005 to March 2006. The China scholarship council, together with Infosys has selected 100 undergraduate students in their fourth year from leading universities in the software engineering field. The programme involves a three-month intensive training course on interpersonal and technical skills at the global education centre at Mysore, and a four-month internship at Infosys' development centre in Bangalore. The training will be conducted by the education and research department at Infosys, in association with the Infosys leadership institute.

Speaking on the occasion, James Lin, CEO, Infosys Technologies (Shanghai) Co. Limited (ITSCo) said, "We believe that a truly global company has a global view of not only markets, but people and culture. Through this initiative, along with our investments in China, we hope to provide Chinese software professionals with an opportunity to train on cutting edge technologies."

The training programme will conclude with students submitting a project report, a case study along with a comprehensive examination.
