M&M to recall Scorpio ‘Ex’ models over faulty valve system
09 Jul 2014
Mahindra & Mahindra, India's top utility car maker, said today it will recall 23,519 units of the 'Ex' variant of its popular Scorpio line to correct a valve malfunction.
M&M said the fault probably lay in the pressure-regulating valves. The affected vehicles, limited to only the 'Ex' variant of the car, were manufactured between May 2012 and November 2013.
The company said it will identify the affected vehicles, have them examined by its engineers, and replace the defective part free of charge.
This is the second time that M&M has recalled the Scorpio in less than a year. It had earlier recalled about 1,000 units of the same 'Ex' model, manufactured between October and November 2013, for a similar problem.
The number of recalls by auto manufacturers has been growing ever since industry body the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) put in place the voluntary recall code in July 2012.
