''Through the Mahindra Stallio Great Indian Ride, we hope to reinforce the message of safe riding to bikers across India which is also evident in our TV commercials currently on air,'' said Viren Popli, senior vice president, strategy and market development, Mahindra 2 Wheelers.
Prior to the flag-off, the bikers attended a boot camp in Pune from 15-18 November where they were briefed on safe riding practices and attended sessions on motorcycle maintenance.
The 20 bikers, divided into four teams of five riders each will cover a total distance of approximately 24,000km to reach Nagpur, the final destination of the journey on 22 December.
En route, the riders will blog, take pictures and share experiences of the trip and people they interact with on indiabikers.com, a community for online bikers.
The bikers will receive a stipend and requisite safety riding gear and will also get to ride their Stallios' home at the end of the event.
