New Delhi: Speculation regarding the appointment of a new chief of the country's flag carrier, Air India, is mounting, with present incumbent V Thulasidas due to remit office on 31 March. Rumour mills are agog with speculation that the name of the new chief for the high profile job may be announced on Wednesday, 26 March.
If the name were announced tomorrow it would certainly end weeks of speculation.
Names of several secretary and additional secretary ranked officials have been doing the rounds for appointment as chairman and managing director (CMD) of the National Aviation Company of India Ltd, NACIL, the parent company that now owns the brand Air India. The names include those of Air India's joint CMD, Vishwapati Trivedi, who earlier headed the domestic carrier Indian, since merged with Air India.
Another likely possibility is that current chairman V Thulsidas will be given an extension so that he could continue overseeing the merger process that has brought together a number of state-owned carriers.
