Railways’ FY15 revenue up 12.16% at Rs1,57,881 crore

The total estimated revenue of Indian Railways during the financial year 2014-15 increased by 12.16 per cent to Rs1,57,880.50 crore, compared to Rs1,40,761.27 crore during the April-March 2013-14.
Of this, earnings from goods traffic stood at Rs1,07,074.79 crore, which was 12.76 per cent higher compared to Rs94,955.89 crore earned during the previous financial year.
The total approximate revenue earnings from passengers during the financial year 2014-15 stood at Rs42,866.33 crore compared to Rs37,478.34 crore during the previous financial year, an increase of 14.38 per cent.
Revenue from other coaching amounted to Rs4,035.56 crore during fiscal 2014-15, compared to Rs3,818.03 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 5.70 per cent.
The total number of passengers during the financial year 2014-15 stood at 8,227.99 million compared to 8,425.09 million during the same period last year, showing a decline of 2.34 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during fiscal 2014-15 were 4,503.97 million and 3,724.02 million compared to 4,549.62 million and 3,875.47 million, showing a decrease of 1.00 per cent and 3.91 per cent, respectively, during last year.
