Uninor, the Indian arm of Norway's Telenor group, today said it planned to invest an additional Rs2,000 crore in its Indian operations even as it is taking all steps to secure Rs14,500 crore already invested in the country.

"We need to do whatever we can to secure this huge investment," Uninor managing director Sigve Brekke said.

He said Telenor already had positive dialogue with the Indian government, and the prime ministers of India and Norway also discussed the issue.

Brekke said his company has subscriber backing and that Telenor will continue the arbitration in Singapore for separation with Unitech.

Uninor, the joint venture with Indian realty firm Unitech, said it is optimistic of a solution to the 2G spectrum issues and that it has initiated search for a new Indian partner.

Brekke, however, declined to name the likely partner companies, but said the partner is not a telecom operator bur is keen to have a long-term commitment.
