Unusual hack allows users to increase iPhone storage space

Using an unusual hack, it is possible to increase the available storage space on one's iPhone. Users can free up gigabytes of space on their phone, which would always come in handy in case one was using a lower-capacity device.
Users should search for a film which was bigger than the space left on their phone, for instance, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (which clocks in at 6.84GB).
They should then click 'Rent' at the top of the page, without worrying if they enough space, as since an error box would appear saying they did not have enough available storage.
After clicking 'OK', users should head back to settings and check their available storage again, which would have increased, potentially quite significantly.
The trick was discussed on Reddit's iPhone forum, and according to some users with higher-capacity phones they had gained up to 4GB of space in just a few tries.
According to commentators, it was not completely clear what caused the increase in available space, but it seemed like the attempted download caused the phone to clear its caches.
