Vodafone installs Insta network in cyclone hit Odisha

Vodafone has installed an Insta network in record time at Chhatrapur in the Odisha's Ganjam district where the sites had been down since 12 October.
An Insta network, also called a network from a box, is an instant and portable site and it can be installed by using four 12 volt car batteries and can be run on 5 KVA petrol genset.
Vodafone has also installed multi plug sockets at the sites of all the Cylcone Phailin-affected areas so that people can charge their phones in areas where power supply has yet to be restored.
It has also arranged for coverage supported by five mobile vans, each with a minimum of 50 charging sockets.
These vans will travel to the cyclone and flood affected areas enabling citizens to charge their cell phones and keep in touch with their near and dear ones.
It has also made chota credit service available to all its customers, who can take credit by dialing *130 #. Using *130# Customers can transfer balance to their friends and relatives.
Cyclone Phailin prompted India's biggest evacuation in 23 years with more than 9,00,000 people moved up from the coastline in Odisha to the interiors.
