Bank would interlink over 240 of its branches through
a wide area network by June next year to facilitate easy
transactions by its customers.
The bank has already hooked up 160 branches to the central
server at Bangalore. The bank''s managing director Bart
Hellemans told reporters here on Monday, "With this
technology the customer does not belong to just a branch
but to the bank as a whole, and (the customer) is able
to utilise the benefits of ATM banking services.
He
said the bank has already installed 34 ATMs in different
parts of the country and 26 more ATMs would be opened
by March 2003.
The
bank has over 470 outlets, including 100 in rural areas,
with deposits of over Rs 8,100 crore and advances of Rs
4,420 crore, the bank official said.
