Modernization of non-metro airports in full swing
09 Oct 2007
It is proposed that the maintenance and commercial exploitation of the new terminal buildings be outsourced to private entities on a long-term concession basis, so that these passenger amenities are maintained at world-class levels.
Also, many of these airports have surplus land that can be used for providing cargo facilities and passenger amenities such as hotels, restaurants, car parks, etc. The concessionaires chosen for commercial operation and maintenance of the terminal would also undertake such city side development.
An RFQ has now been issued by the AAI inviting experienced and qualified parties to undertake such activities at the Amritsar and Udaipur airports.
AAI
has developed the terminals at Amritsar and Udaipur at a cost of Rs112 crores
and Rs125 crores respectively.
