Railway PSUs exceed 2008-09 production target

Railway sector units Chitranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Rail Coach Factory (RCF) and Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) have produced 3 electric locomotives, 17 diesel locomotive, 86 coaches, 125 coaches, 16,132 wheels and 1651 axles, respectively against the target of 3 electric locomotives, 20 diesel locomotive, 60 coaches, 125 coaches, 16,162 wheels and 1,864 axels, during April 2009.

Railways have realised an amount of about Rs31.10 crore during April 2009 through ticket checking, a government release said.

CLW produced 220 electric locomotives against the target of 220 electric locomotives and DLW produced 257 diesel locomotives against the target of 250 diesel locomotives during the fiscal 2008-09.

ICF produced 1,337 coaches against the target of 1,335 coaches where as RCF produced 1,558 coaches against the target of 1,551 coaches during the same period. RWF produced 19,6261 wheels and 84,428 axles against the target of 180,000 wheels and 65,826 axles during the financial year 2008-09.

During March 2009, CLW, DLW, ICF, RCF and RWF had produced 32 electric locomotives, 17 diesel locomotive, 176 coaches, 153 coaches, 16,930 wheels and 5,053 axles respectively against the target of 32 electric locomotives, 20 diesel locomotive, 174 coaches, 131 coaches, 15,334 wheels and 5,817 axels.
