With the new advertising platform for the iPhone and iPad called the iAd Apple makes its first foray into a small but growing market. This will be more than welcome to the thousands of application developers who make their living off those devices, providing as it will provide them with new revenue streams.
Analysts have been highly impressed with the overwhelming response to the iPad and many of them expect sale of 1 million units in the quarter ending June and around 5 million in 2010.
Jobs said the company was making iPads as fast as it can, and its ramp was going well but the demand was still outstripping supply.
The company has staked its reputation on the 9.7-inch touchscreen tablet, which is something of a cross between a smartphone and a laptop. According to analysts, the market for tablet computers is expected to grow to around 50 million units by 2014.
