Apple releases iPhone 4S with new chip
15 Oct 2011
Apple's new iPhone 4S, with the new dual-core A5 chip, which according to Apple can deliver up to two times more power and seven times faster graphics performance than the iPhone 4 was released today.
According to experts the iPhone 4S is the fastest iPhone so far as also the fastest smartphone generally, for web browsing.
However, they say this could change next week when Google launches its ''Ice Cream Sandwich'', the latest version of Android for smartphones and tablets. The update would likely include the web performance improvements in Honeycomb and bring them to smartphones, which would result in better scores.
However, whether or not that happens remains to be seen, and Ice Cream Sandwich would not likely be available as an update for most Android phones for a while.
The iPhone 4S therefore is currently the best buy for people who are looking for the fastest web browsing experience on smartphones.
Though the latest iPhone received enthusiastic response from buyers at stores yesterday, many observers noted that the crowds were slimmer than the ones that greeted earlier releases.
AT&T and Verizon Wireless were joined by Sprint Nextel Corp as a seller and spot checks in Philadelphia and San Francisco revealed longer lines outside Sprint stores were longer than at the others.
