Shenzhen Proview Technology, which is locked in an iPad trademark battle in Chinese courts with technology giant Apple, has warned dealers not to sell the device in China after the technology giant released the latest version of the iPad.
The little known near bankrupt Chinese computer display company issued the warning via an open letter to China's iPad vendors and dealers, threatening ''severe measures'' against trademark infringements.
The open letter first published by The Wall Street Journal, and later carried by China's news channels urged vendors, dealers and e-distributors of Apple iPads including the iPad 3 in China to immediately stop selling the devices in accordance with the Trademark Law of the People's Republic of China.
The letter said that any use of ''IPAD'' or similar trademarks is an infringement of Proview's exclusive rights.
It warned that selling the devices or storing, warehousing, transportation, mailing and concealing would be deemed as a deliberate infringement and it would take the most severe measures possible to hold the infringers responsible for any legal liability, including but not limited to administrative, civil and criminal liabilities.
The move comes after the Cupertino, California-based company had earlier this week released the iPad 3.
