Apple could phase out iPad mini: report
17 May 2017
Apple is set to unveil a brand-new iPad in just a few weeks, according to reports, BGR reported, adding that the iPad mini would not receive an update, as it could be reaching the end of the road.
At WWDC, Apple could be unveiling a new iPad with a 10.5-inch display and smaller bezels, which would be roughly the size of the existing 9.7-inch iPad Pro and would replace the small iPad Pro in the lineup.
At the lower end, Apple recently released a new cheap 9.7-inch iPad costing $320 which was even cheaper than the $399 iPad mini 4.
According to commentators, it was clear that both the entry-level iPad and the iPhone 7 Plus (and phablets in general) had become more popular than the iPad mini.
Apple would therefore get rid of the iPad mini. They add, Apple will keep the iPad mini for a little while and let it slowly fade away, rather than end it off abruptly.
The iPad mini was the hot new thing when introduced in 2012. People wanted something light to carry around and the iPad mini was the perfect device to browse the web, read emails and more.
