The new chip, designed in-house, will be ready for use in the iPhone in the next two years.
The in-house chips, supposedly "the most advanced in the industry," will pave the way for future iPhone models to have a better performance and battery life balance. The report has been confirmed by anonymous sources to Nikkei Asian Review.
According to the sources, Apple is designing its own power management chips for use in iPhones within the next two years. Highlighting its the plan, one of the sources said, "Based on Apple's current plan, they are set to replace around half of its power management chips to go into iPhones by itself, starting next year."
According to another source, the new chips may not be ready until 2019, which meant that the 2018 iPhones may not see this chip in it.
