Seoul: Apple has come out with the long-anticipated iPhone, a smart phone with features from the iPod music player.
The iPhone will be three devices in one: a cell phone, a wide-screen iPod with touch controls, and an Internet communications device. Cingular (soon to be part of AT&T) will be the sole iPhone carrier.
Both Apple and Cingular stores in the US will start selling the phone in June this year.
The iPhone will be launched in Europe by the end of the calendar year and would be offered in Asia next year. The model with a 4GB memory will be priced at $499 with a two year contract and the 8GB version (also with a two year contract) wwill cost $599.
iPhone is large in size because of a large, 3.5-inch display: it measures 4.5x2.4x0.46 inches.
