KPMG today awarded the P-CMM (People''s Capability Measurement Model) Version 2.0 to Datamatics after thoroughly reviewing the human resources practices at the company.
Says KPMG lead assessor Arvinda Prabhu: "We are satisfied with the practices at Datamatics to make the company eligible for the award. I was particularly impressed by the climate to encourage innovation, competency-based programmes and alignment mechanism at various levels at Datamatics."
Datamatics, as a whole, employs about 1,600 people and has launched a major recruitment drive with an immediate target of employing 300 software professionals. Founded in 1975 by Indian IT pioneer L S Kanodia, Datamatics has so far executed 1,100 projects in 58 countries across the world.
The P-CMM is a maturity framework developed by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie Mellon University, USA, and it focuses on continuously improving the management and development of human assets of a software or information systems organisation.
Says Datamatics chairman L S Kanodia: "Our people are the only major asset that we have and I am glad that Team Datamatics has done us proud. Our work is not yet over. We need to continuously strive to keep up the levels of performance and competence."
Kanodia congratulated Datamatics HR head Chandra Mauli Dwivedi and his team for burning the midnight oil to accomplish the unique record. Datamatics employees had to answer some 500 parameters as part of the KPMG assessment.
Says Dwivedi: "It will immensely help the company in delivering a much greater value to the customer since the competency levels of the employees will rise. P-CMM Level 5 will result in Datamatics attracting and retaining talent pool."
Earlier, Datamatics was awarded the SWCMM Level 5 in January 2003. The company crossed several milestones by winning the HR excellence award in January 2002 from India HRD Congress and Lakshya Award from NITIE earlier this month. The Regional HR Conference to be held at Pune on 3 October has already announced an HR Excellence award to Datamatics.
