New Delhi: Wadia group-promoted low-cost carrier GoAir will expand its fleet size, from six to 11 aircraft, over the coming 12 months. The addition in numbers will be utilised to increase the number of flights on existing destinations, the carrier said, rather than increasing the number of routes.
The carrier will have a fleet size of 11 Airbus A320s by the end of fiscal 2008-09 and a fleet size of 31 aircraft by 2012. It is currently engaged on a cost-cutting drive in order to improve its financial health and hopes to break even in fiscal 2008-09.
As for its strategy, GoAir officials have said that they have taken care to expand slowly in the initial phase when the industry is registering losses but expect to turn around in the coming fiscal.
