Hyundai swings against counterfeiters in Delhi

In a combined operation, the Economic Offences Wing, Crime Branch, and the Delhi Police cracked down on unauthorised storing, manufacturing and selling of counterfeit automotive spare parts of Hyundai Motor Company.
This is the first of its kind of action initiated by the Hyundai Motor Company to check the rising supply of spurious auto parts using the Hyundai brand logo and trademark by counterfeiters.
In a simultaneous raid conducted on 26th February 2010 on two shops at India's largest motor market, Delhi's Kashmiri Gate and a factory premises at Vishnu Nagar, counterfeit goods bearing Hyundai trade marks were seized by the police.
The owners of the two shops and factory have been remanded in police custody and criminal proceeding will start against the sellers and manufacturers of these spurious parts after they are produced in court.
Hyundai Mobis, which is responsible for all Service Parts supply for Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motor Co will continue to initiate these activities globally and in the Indian market also where manufacture and sale of counterfeit parts is very prevalent.
Hyundai along with Mobis plan to continue the campaign against spurious parts sellers, stockists and manufactures in other cities as well.
