Hyundai releases teaser images of its first fully-electric-plug-in car, Ioniq

In the run up to the official unveiling of its first fully-electric plug-in car, the Ioniq, Hyundai has released a number of teaser images that show the company had focused on both aesthetics and emissions. Hyundai also confirmed it had a license for testing its autonomous driving technology on US roads.
Built along strong coupe lines but over a sedan form - a design popularised by premium German car makers Mercedes and Audi - the Ioniq, according to its makers, would couple good looks with "class-leading" aerodynamic performance.
According to commentators, the Ioniq would appeal to drivers who simply wanted to reduce their carbon footprint, rather than make a bold automotive statement simultaneously.
The Ioniq's interiors come in eco-friendly materials and clutter cut to a minimum, something the company was convinced would appeal to the next generation of motorists.
The Ioniq is being offered in three different powertrain models.
The full electric version of the car would appeal to those who wish to own a full EV. There would also be a plug-in gasoline / electric hybrid for those who would still prefer the range afforded by gas-powered vehicles.
There would also be a regular gasoline / electric hybrid, similar to other hybrids in the market today like the Toyota Prius and Honda Insight.
Hyundai would debut the Ioniq in Korea next month. It would later be on show at the Geneva Motor Show and New York Auto Show in March 2016.
