US-based Aetna Inc., the nation’s leading provider of health care and related benefits, serving millions of members in general health, dental treatment and group insurance, announced the cementing of its relationship with Infosys Technologies, India’s leading IT consulting and services provider.
Infosys, which has been working with Aetna since 1999 as an extension of the latter’s IT arm, plans to expand its staff at Aetna from the current 250 to 500 by end of this year. It provides consulting, software services, and support to Aetna.
Key to the success of the relationship is the integration of processes across various levels of both organizations from consistent program management and collaborative quality assurance to synchronizing human resource training programs, all aimed at creating this virtual team.
This has been clearly reiterated by Mr. John Brighton, chief information officer of Aetna who says, "The relationship with Infosys has been positive. By being a part of our team, Infosys has helped us significantly reduce IT costs while still delivering quality."
According to Mr. Mohan Shekhar, vice president of delivery systems at Infosys, the team at Aetna would be Infosys’ fastest growing dedicated customer team. Echoing his views, Ms. Shobha Meera, vice president business development also addes that it has been very satisfying for Infosys to play a significant role in the fulfillment of Aetna’s corporate goals and objectives, not just their IT ones.
