LyondellBasell wins Toyota awards for quality and supply consistency

LyondellBasell Industries has received two awards from Toyota Motor Europe, one for quality and the other for supply performance, in 2009, making the company the only plastics raw material supplier to get two Toyota awards, the company said in a release today.
LyondellBasell said it was honoured with the supplier and quality awards for outstanding achievements in product quality and supply consistency that it provided to all Toyota manufacturing sites in Europe.
"We really appreciate the support LyondellBasell provides to our manufacturing sites in Europe, including their proactive approach and ongoing communications," said Emin Atac, Toyota's European general manager.
LyondellBasell said it manufactures polypropylene (PP) compounds exclusively for Toyota at its plant in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, and supplies to Toyota facilities in France, the UK and Turkey.
LyondellBasell leverages on its existing facilities in major regions of the world to provide original equipment manufacturers across the world with the material consistency and quality they demand.
Before a LyondellBasell material is approved for use in a Toyota model, it undergoes rigorous testing. "Each batch is tested by LyondellBasell experts, then checked and pre-approved by Toyota quality control before being dispatched to a Toyota facility," said Paul Ashurst, LyondellBasell's sales and project manager for Toyota in Europe.
