Maruti to launch CNG variants of five models

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to introduce CNG variants of at least five of its models.
According to I V Rao, managing executive officer, Maruti has worked on a superior gas injection system and five models of its range would be launched with CNG option over the next 15 days.
The company does not have any plans to either phase out or come out with an upgrade of its former flagship M800.
Rao said that the company has not been selling the M800 in at least 13 states where emission norms have been upgraded and enforced and though sales have gone down the company has not vacated the slot.
M800 sales were down in July to 1,680 units from 2,796 units in July 2009.
The company has been upgrading all its products with K10 engine and the key change which is expected to boost the fuel efficiency of Maruti vehicles. Alto, a big brand of Maruti has been outfitted with the K10 engine to improve fuel efficiency.
