Nissan to launch an electric car in 2010 in the US

Geneva: Renault-Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn, announced at the Geneva Motor show, that Nissan would launch an electric car in the United States in 2010. He also stated that the cars would be launched globally two years later.
According to Ghosn, California's new legislation aimed at reducing CO2 emissions gave rise to explore alternative energy sources and products.
Renault and Nissan will work together on electric technology, but with "different applications as the car will not be identical" under the two different brands, Ghosn said. He also added that, the two companies would target different markets according to the brands, "with Europe a priority for Renault while Nissan will focus on Japan and China.''
