Reliance Industries' gas output from KG D6 at 29 mscmd: Jaipal Reddy
07 Aug 2012
Energy major Reliance Industries' current output of gas from KG D6 block, stood at 29 million standard cubic metres a day (mscmd), oil minister S Jaipal Reddy said today.
This was much short of the peak target of 80 mscmd from the block and has led to severe shortage of gas, he told reporters.
There was, therefore, a painful need to reallocate the reduced output and several states, including Andhra Pradesh, were forced to make do with reduced gas for power generation, Reddy said.
A grid collapse that knocked out three of India's five transmission grids last week, left around 670 million people without power.
Reddy said that he proposed to raise the issue with the power ministry and other ministries with particular reference to Andhra Pradesh.
The Andhra government led by chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy had made a representation before prime minister Manmohan Singh yesterday.
