Bosch employees in Bangalore go on flash strike
08 Mar 2013
Workmen at auto component manufacturer Bosch Ltd's plant in Adugodi in Bangalore today went on an indefinite 'tool-down' strike in protest against the suspension of a worker on Thursday.
The strike started from the end of first shift of 7 March 2013 (Thursday) at the company's Bangalore plant, which the company said was illegal as it was without prior warning.
In a note to the exchanges, the company said the staff resorted to a strike without giving any prior notice to the management.
According to reports, there are more than 2,500 workers at the company's Adugodi plant in Bangalore.
The filing also said that efforts are on for early resolution of the matter with the union.
"The workmen of Bangalore plant have resorted to an illegal 'tool down' strike w.e.f. end of first shift of March 07, 2013, without giving any prior notice to the management. Efforts are in hand to resolve the matter with the Union and restore normalcy at the earliest," the statement said.
This is the second time that the workers are resorting to a strike in two years. The workers had earlier, in 2011, launched a 'tool-down' strike to protest the move to outsource certain jobs by the company.
