SAIL hikes prices 3 per cent across product categories
04 Jan 2011
Public sector steel maker, SAIL today said it had hiked prices across product categories by around Rs1,000 per tonne to offset an increase in input costs.
A company official said the company had increased prices by 3 per cent or by around Rs1,000 per tonne across product categories.
According to the official the price hike was on account of an increase in input costs. He added that he revised steel prices would be effective from 1 January.
Iron order prices have been hike by 5.22 per cent from the January-March quarter by state-run NMDC.
The other input that has witnessed rising price trends is coal. Both are key inputs in the steel-making process.
Last November SAIL had cut prices of its products by around Rs700 a tonne with a softening of global demand and appreciation of the Indian rupee against the US dollar.
