Jaguar to recall 1,552 XF and XK cars in China
21 May 2011
The Chinese quality regulator yesterday said that it has asked British luxury car maker Jaguar Land Rover to recall 1,552 XF and XK cars sold in the country due to steering flaws.
The recall involves 1,550 Jaguar XF cars manufactured between September 2009 and March 2010 and 2 XK Jaguar cars produced between August 2009 and March 2010, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said in a statement.
AQSIQ said that antiseptic plating of the steering power oil pipe was of substandard design and the pipes could be corroded, resulting in possible steering problems or even over-heating.
The recall will start from 6 June and Jaguar Land Rover Auto Trade (Shanghai) Co will notify consumers for free checks and repairs.
The second generation Jaguar XK was launched in 2006 and is available both as a two-door coupé and two-door cabriolet/convertible.
The Jaguar XF is a mid-size luxury sports saloon, which replaced the Jaguar S-Type. It was launched at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show and went on sale in 2008 with a range of V6 and V8 engines.
In October 2010 Jaguar recalled 30 f imported Discovery 3 TDV6 diesel vehicles over defective fore bearing lubrication inside the high-pressure fuel pump defect that may cause a fuel leak or even fire under extreme conditions and a month later recalled 704 imported 2010 Jaguar XF sedans due to a problem in the fuel pipe of the vehicles and recalled 30 Discovery 3 TDV6 diesel vehicles.
