20 Sep 2012
Tata Motors, the country's largest automobile company, has received an order to supply 1,314 trucks, its largest single order ever, from fleet owner Siddhivinayak Logistics.
The order coincides with the launch of a scheme - 'Chalak se Malak' - by Siddhivinayak Logistics (SVLL), meant for the well being of its drivers.
Tata Motors is India's largest automobile company, with consolidated revenues of Rs1,65,654 crore ($32.5 billion) in 2011-12.
''We are honoured to receive this prestigious order and are committed to deliver these vehicles this fiscal year,'' Tata Motors Head (Sales & Marketing, Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles) Vinod Sahay said.
The order also includes two recently launched products - Tata Prima 4923 LX and Tata LPT 3723, the first 5-axle rigid truck in the country.
The Tata Prima 4923 LX was launched to extend the Prima advantage to many more transporters who require a lower power-to-weight ratio.
Based in Surat, SVLL has a fleet size of more than 4,000 commercial vehicles. The company operates across diverse segments, like steel, cement, tractors, chemicals, machinery and is a pioneer in new segments like commercial vehicle chassis carriers.
