Welspun Gujarat awarded EEPC for exports

Mumbai: Welspun Gujarat Stahl Rohren Limited, part of the Rs2000-crore Welspun Group, has received the ''all India award for highest exporters and top exporters'' for outstanding export performance during 2001-02 and 2002-03 respectively by the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) of India.
During FY 2001-02, the Company had exported pipes worth over Rs135 crore ($30 million) amounting to about 47 per cent of its turnover. In the FY 2002-03, it had exports of Rs288 crore ($ 64 million), which contributed to about 72 per cent of turnover. Welspun Gujarat exports to US, Libya, Middle East, China, Columbia, among others. The company recorded a turnover of Rs890 crore. with a net profit of Rs72 crore during FY 2003-04.
According toVijay Phatarphekar, chief marketing officer, said, "the Company is already approved by all the major oil and gas majors across the world like Shell, Gazprom, El Paso, Total, etc. These approvals will ensure that Welspun shall be a part of all the global pipe tenders." It has a Rs285-crore expansion project at Anjar, Gujarat for LSAW, Spiral and ERW pipes and on its completion it will rank amongst the largest pipe manufacturers globally with one stop Pipe-manufacturing capability for entire range of welded pipes.
