Wipros support to Intel processors

Wipro will provide consulting support to end customers in developing solutions, based on the new Intel IXP2800 and IXP2400 network processors. Wipros services will include system design, architecting and performance measurement support to network equipment-makers.
Wipro has invested in a Centre of Excellence for Intel network processors, currently focusing on the IXP-1200, and has plans to extend this to the IXP2800 and IXP2400. The centre consists of a dedicated team of engineers, investment in development kits and hardware, with the goal of developing expertise and reusable intellectual property around the network processor.
"Equipment-makers looking for faster time to market will want to augment their operations with professional services," says Intel network processor division general manager Doug Davis. "Wipro offers these customers an option with a company very familiar with the Intel line of network processors."

According to the Yankee group report of July 2001, the network processors industry has made a significant progress over the last two years. The network processors market will witness a compound annual growth rate of 66 per cent over five years, as sales are expected to grow from $200 million in 2000 to $2.5 billion by 2005.
